Back in August I blogged about attending the GTI Tuning Show at Magny Cours, France for Fast Car. Well the February 2009 issue went on sale this week (don't ask me why the february issue came out in december!!!) complete with a 5 page report containing my photography.

Funkstylerz @ Donny

Spent the weekend with the Funkstylerz at Doncaster Car Show capturing their performances. They were performing on the Monster stage and had also brought with them, Decibella (who I had previously shot for their website), PeteBox, and some football freestylers.

Urban Strides : DVD Shoot

Urban Strides have been working on a DVD which is due out in November. I was asked to shoot some stills from the final part of the filming to be used on the cover and for promotional material.

British International Motorshow

Took a trip to Excel in London's Docklands to do some shooting of the new Ford Fiesta and Focus RS for National Ford club. Whilst there I took the time to shoot some of the other cars on show.

Xquisite Peugeot 206

Shot for Xquisite Automotive. This Peugeot 206 is fitted with a Veilside Nissan 350Z bodykit and features Lamborghini style doors and a vinyl trimmed roof and bonnet.

The shoot was lit using 2 Canon Speedlites which were fired with Pocket Wizards. Ideally I could have done with another couple of lights as it would have been nice to light the interior and also to bring out some detail in the black wheels.

Difficult Combination

There are certain things that are just a nightmare combination to take photographs of. I had one of those combinations yesterday. I was at a car shoot, and had to take some photos of a white Nissan S15 Silvia. Ok, white car isn't too hard. This car had black wheels though! This meant trying to maintain a good level of detail at both ends of the histogram. Next add to that reeeeeeeeally bright sunshine.... so bright in fact that I couldn't see the back of my camera without finding some shade and you have your nightmare combination!

The only way I was able to get the shot was to underexpose the car by half a stop so that I retained all the detail in the bodywork, and then light the front of the car and the wheels with off camera flash.

And there you have it... 1/200sec @ f/18, ISO200. Flashes had to be on full power with one in front and one to the side of the car.

Here are some of the other cars I shot...
